Cliff Evans is an American interdisciplinary artist of Australian origin. Evans creates continuously looping digital animations and photomontages that are rich, immersive experiences, too detailed to fully absorb in one viewing. These works are complex compositions of thousands of internet-sourced images, referencing a range of visual culture from 15th-century Northern European altarpieces and Old Masters paintings to contemporary advertising and popular culture narratives. Evans frequently employs humor and absurd juxtapositions to investigate the dynamic between power and social control. Many of the animations are complemented by original sound collage soundtracks.
